Relay for Life

So this past Sat and Sun was the annual Relay for Life event held this year at our local fairgrounds. As usual there was a ton of people there and we of course were there to support Eliza Brock - our two year breast cancer survivor. To view Eliza's blog click here. A friend of ours made these cute shirts for us that have two owls on then with a pink ribbon and say "Save the Hooters". They were a huge hit!
Sat afternoon we loaded up all the kids and headed out to the fairgrounds where everyone who signed up on Eliza's team had to walk for an hour. People start walking from 2pm on Sat until 8am on Sunday. It's a real tribute to the fight against cancer. Heath took the first hour from 5-6 and then I started my shift from 6-7 and well, I got a little lucky as the girls decided to walk for me. Thanks Dari and Braxie. It was just so hard to control the twins and Heath was getting very frustrated trying to pull the wagon and/or carry one of the kids at the same time. We really needed to just focus on containing them. ughhh They had no nap that day and of course were exhausted. Needless to say, they were a hand full that evening.

They have a lot of things going on at this event. There are vendors set up everywhere selling things to raise money that all goes back to the American Cancer Society. There was a silent auction, tons of food, music, entertainment and of course a lot of fun. Later in the evening they do a slide show with every ones name on it in memory of those who have passed away from cancer and honor those who have survived. Then each person also has a luminarie candle to be lit with their name on it that lined the track that evening. It was very nice.

I decided to stay the night with the girls since they were really excited about the event and Eliza had brought their camper trailer to make it easy on everyone. Most people brought tents and set them up throughout the grassy areas and a few brought trailors. It was nice to have Eliza's trailor since it ended up raining most of the evening but that didn't stop people from walking their laps throughout the night.

One of the fun things that they had were bands that played around the clock. I think about every 1 1/2 hours they had a new band playing. Well here is a clip that Eliza took of Lauren dancing that just makes me laugh so loud. My babies LOVE to dance! Grayson warmed up after a few minutes, but Lauren jumped right in there with her mommy and sisters. REMEMBER to pause my music player (located on the right side bar) before you play this video so you can hear it.

Here are some pics from the event. You can also view all the pics on our Snapfish website by clicking here or on the link on the right side bar "Morby Family Photos".
